£70,000+ depending on experience + annual KPI bonus up to c.£15,000

We are working with a highly regarded, independent commercially minded  design-led furniture consultancy looking for an Associate Director to lead its marketing function and help shape the next stage of the business.

Working across workplace, residential and emerging sectors, the company collaborates with leading architects, interior designers and global organisations to deliver some of the most considered furniture projects in the industry.

They already have the projects, reputation and relationships. The opportunity is to ensure the business presents itself with equal strength.

The Role

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role for someone who combines brand thinking, creative judgment, and commercial awareness with the ability to deliver results.

You will lead and develop an established marketing team while owning the company’s wider marketing strategy, brand positioning, and external communications.

This is not a role for someone who wants to sit above the work and delegate.

You will be expected to set the direction, generate ideas, make decisions and work alongside the team to deliver them.

The remit is broad: brand, website, social media, project storytelling, photography, editorial content, events, partnerships, credentials, tenders and major client presentations.

Everything the company puts into the world should reflect the quality of the work it delivers.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead and develop the marketing team, creating clear priorities, accountability and a positive, ambitious culture.
  • Own the overall marketing strategy and translate it into clear campaigns, projects and measurable objectives.
  • Shape and protect the company’s brand, positioning, tone of voice and visual identity.
  • Ensure consistency across the website, social media, presentations, pitches, case studies, events and wider communications.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to understand commercial priorities and identify where marketing can have the greatest impact.
  • Improve how projects, people and ideas are communicated to the architecture, design and client community.
  • Develop stronger editorial, social, event and partnership opportunities.
  • Oversee major credentials, tender and pitch material.
  • Establish meaningful KPIs and understand the commercial impact of marketing activity.
  • Bring new ideas into the business and have the drive to turn the best of them into reality.

About You

Furniture industry experience would be useful, but it is not essential.

You could come from furniture, architecture, interiors, property, hospitality, fashion, a design-led product company, a creative consultancy, or another sector where brand, aesthetics, and commercial thinking intersect.

More important is your judgement, personality and ability to lead.

You are likely to be:

  • An experienced marketing, brand or communications professional ready for significant ownership.
  • Visually literate with a genuine interest in design, architecture, interiors, fashion, art or culture.
  • Entrepreneurial and naturally looking for ways to improve, evolve and differentiate a business.
  • Commercially aware and capable of connecting marketing activity to wider business objectives.
  • A strong people manager who can motivate, develop and challenge a team.
  • Confident working with senior leadership while remaining comfortable getting involved in the detail.
  • An excellent communicator with a strong understanding of language, storytelling and tone of voice.
  • Positive, proactive and solutions-focused.
  • Organised enough to turn creative thinking into consistently well-delivered work.
  • Someone with an opinion, good judgement and the confidence to use both.

The Opportunity

This is a chance to have real influence in a well-established, respected design business.

The foundations are already there: great clients, excellent projects, strong relationships and real credibility within the design industry.

They are now looking for someone who can bring it together, sharpen how the business communicates, and help define how it is perceived over the coming years.
