Role: Workplace Interior Designer
A client-facing interior design role focused on translating client vision into functional, well-resolved workplace environments.
OVERVIEW
As a Mid-Weight Interior Designer, you’ll play a key role in delivering considered, high-quality workplace and commercial interior solutions for a diverse portfolio of clients. Working across multiple project stages, you’ll bring together creative thinking and technical capability to design spaces that enhance user experience, support functionality, and reflect client identity.
You’ll work closely with internal project teams, sales, and delivery specialists, as well as external consultants and clients. This role requires someone confident managing their own workload while also contributing to larger, collaborative project teams. From early concept through to installation, you’ll be involved across the full design lifecycle.
This role sits within a specialist workplace design and furniture solutions organisation known for delivering end-to-end workplace environments that combine strategy, design, product specification, and delivery at scale.
Key Responsibilities
Client Engagement & Design Development
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to define project requirements including aesthetics, functionality, budget, and programme.
- Translate client briefs into clear design directions, identifying opportunities and resolving challenges through design thinking.
- Develop and present workplace design concepts, space plans, and material/finish palettes.
- Support and manage design approvals, ensuring alignment with client expectations prior to final specification and delivery stages.
Product Specification & Research
- Research and select furniture, finishes, fabrics, and accessories aligned with design intent, budget, and lead-time requirements.
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain pricing, technical data, and availability.
- Prepare detailed furniture and FF&E specifications in line with approved layouts.
- Support the development of validation and presentation packages for client review and sign-off.
Technical Delivery
- Produce and update detailed drawings, including furniture layouts, space plans, finish schedules, and installation documentation.
- Carry out site surveys and measurements, incorporating existing conditions into design outputs.
- Ensure all design deliverables are accurate, buildable, and compliant with relevant standards and regulations.
Project Coordination & Delivery
- Work collaboratively with internal teams including project management, procurement, and operations.
- Coordinate with external stakeholders such as architects, contractors, consultants, and workplace specialists.
- Manage design inputs from external partners, ensuring consistency and clarity across all documentation.
- Support tracking of project timelines, design hours, and deliverables to ensure alignment with budgets and programmes.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining quality and attention to detail.

Requirements
- Approximately 3–5+ years’ experience within workplace interiors, furniture dealership environments, or A&D/design studios.
- Degree in Interior Design or related discipline (professional accreditation advantageous).
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (2018+); experience with CET preferred.
- Working knowledge of SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong understanding of workplace design principles, commercial interiors, and FF&E specification.
- Experience working with commercial furniture systems, vendors, pricing structures, and specification workflows.
- Understanding of relevant building regulations and accessibility standards.
- Strong technical drawing ability combined with a clear design sensibility.
- Confident communicator with the ability to present ideas to clients and stakeholders.
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple live projects.
- Strong collaborative approach with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
